ALL ABOUT
MOLLY
Welcome, I’m Molly. It’s so great to meet you.
In my time as a Makeup Artist I noticed one, huge thing I felt was missing from the Bridal industry and that was fun.
This doesn’t mean to say I think everyone should treat their big day as a joke, far from it. But I do feel as though the Bridal template has become so rigid that we’ve forgotten how to inject a sense of ourselves, and on a day designed to celebrate you and your partner, this to me feels devastating.
My mission as a Makeup Artist is to help brides (and grooms) to be to break free of expectations and make choices that make them happy - starting of course, with Makeup. I feel strongly about this as I truly believe that when we feel good in our own skin the world is a kinder, happier and more vibrant place.
We do this not by sacrificing elegance or tradition, but by allowing ourselves to be inspired by more than just your Pinterest board. We build a creative vision, then curate to make way for a truly timeless look that is undeniably you.
SIGNATURE STYLE
I describe my style of makeup as editorial, clean and classic. I aim to provide looks that will never go out of fashion and achieve this by carefully assessing both what to include and enhance as well as what to leave out or strip back.
I often use a three stage formula to blend this classic style with my creative approach. I call this skin, structure, statement.
This works by creating a beautifully smooth and balanced canvas, reintroducing structure with attention to the brows, lash line and lips, and then finishing with one or two statements to reintroduce personality and elements of storytelling.
INTERESTS
My world outside of Makeup revolves largely around history, travel and music.
I am fascinated by cultures and civilisations that came before us, my favourite being the Ancient Egyptians and the Golden Age Pirates. Give me half a chance and I can talk about these for hours. Whether it’s lengthy audiobooks, documentaries or conversation, I am always eager both to learn and discuss anything and everything historical.
This of course ties in to my love of travel. My long suffering boyfriend has been taken to every old town, castle, temple and museum whether we’re in blistering heat or bitter cold. All in the hope of learning something from the places and people we encounter. I will always and forever be eager to discuss past and future travel experiences and plans, exchange recommendations and hear your stories.
It may come as no surprise that I’m not exactly current in my music taste either. The sound and visual world of jazz truly take centre stage in my heart and have a huge influence over my artistic style. This also ties closely to my love of vintage films and the icons that starred in them. To me, the essence of Old Hollywood is the definition of timeless and you will see these influences come up again and again in my Makeup work.
When I’m not living in the past I can often be found listening to or watching anything spooky or paranormal, chasing other people’s cats in hopes of a cuddle and working out the exact amount of animal print I can wear before it crosses the line over to tacky.
MY STORY
Long before I became a Makeup Artist, I was captivated by the way people chose to express themselves. I would study strangers in excruciating detail, seeing what stories would reveal themselves from their clothes, accessories, hair, tattoos and of course, makeup. I didn’t realise it at the time but this obsession with personal curation would shape the rest of my career.
My love affair with Makeup begun in childhood when a family member suggested to me, a quiet and arty child, that I look into prosthetics for film. When I had recovered from the shock of realising this was a real career, I dedicated the entire rest of my education to the pursuit of Makeup, taking a Production Makeup course instead of A Levels before moving on to achieving a First Class Bachelor’s Degree in Media Makeup from the University Centre Somerset.
My early Makeup Career spanned almost every corner of the industry including retail, commercial, film and television, theatre, fashion and bridal. Working for names such as Urban Decay, Lancôme, L’Oréal, Avalon and the BBC along the way.
I credit my education as well as my time in film, television and theatre for my love of storytelling through Makeup. I found, and still find, the way minor tweaks to someone’s appearance can conjure different emotions both fascinating and beautiful.
As it did to almost all of us, the Covid-19 pandemic threw me a curveball that sent me down a winding career path that I never would have expected. I worked for the London Ambulance Service during lockdown, briefly trained in hairdressing, made fine art pieces and worked as a mould maker for the world’s largest wax museum.
It wasn’t until my friends begun getting married and asked me to help with their makeup that I realised how far I had strayed from the Makeup industry and how much I truly missed it. I will be forever grateful to them for reigniting that passion in me.
Being with them on their wedding mornings made me see bridal makeup in a light I never had before and I became completely and utterly captivated - with the couples, the emotions and the sheer love in the air.
Whilst I adored the wedding industry from day one, it became quickly apparent to me that there was a very specific idea of what bridal Makeup should be and I was shocked at how little variation there was advertised. Especially when compared to the infinite range of brides coming from all walks of life. It couldn’t be that all of these different women wanted the same makeup.
And this bring us to where we are today. A bridal business designed for real women, with real lives and real interests. Because to me, beauty is about far more than appearance. It's identity, storytelling and ultimately - fun.
